I’ve been buying domains through GoDaddy auctions for a while now, and I’ve started to develop some bidding strategies in GoDaddy around how to be more effective at winning these auctions. First, in case you’ve never seen the results of a GoDaddy Auction, you can check out a few recently closed auctions here. You should be able to see the closing price, closing time, and a bidding history. . Here’s my bidding strategy for GoDaddy auctions 1. Mark your favorites as watched. Once you identify the auctions you’re interested in, click on the blue ‘eye’ on the auction listing page. 2. Mark the auction expiration date and time on your calendar, with a reminder. I use Google Calendar for this. 3. Login to the godaddy auction website about 10 minutes before the auction is set to expire. 4. Set your upper limit, and place your bid for the domain as close to the expiration time as possible. Here’s why I do it this way 1. The most important reason to follow this bidding strategy, is [...]
Having recently started my own blog site, I find myself asking so many questions: How many people are reading it? Where do they come from? Are my posts worth taking time to read? That’s when Google Analytics comes in. Google Analytics is a free, yet, powerful tool which helps you track different aspects of your website traffic. This gave me a few ideas for creating custom reports that I could use to answer my questions. Google Analytics has its default reports showing in the dashboard, but after learning the basics, I figured out how to create my own and combine them with some of the defaults. 1. Visitor Source and Medium– This is a custom report display that you can create for your dashboard in order to see which sources your visits come from. Whether it is from a search engine, a social network site or from a different website. It can be done by clicking on Custom Reports > Create New Custom Report > Edit the Report Name as Visitor Source and Medium. You may [...]
When you start working on a new easy client website, a little bit of preparation and planning can go a long way, in getting the project out the door quickly, and leaving the client happy. Here are a few tips I’ve gathered over the years. 1. Get the contents from the client up front. This is the single biggest difference between a project that lingers on for 3 months, and one that you can knock out in a week. By contents, I mean: A list of pages that will be on the site. For a typical business website, this may be HOME, ABOUT US, SERVICES, BLOG, CONTACT US. The actual text for each of these pages. If you have these contents ahead of time, you’ll be able to interlink pages, do initial search engine optimization, and set any meta data for the site. Also, most clients won’t give you the final payment, if the site is still covered with lorem ipsum text! Contact information for the contact page. This includes address and phone number information, [...]
By Doli of Davao From its onset, Google Plus seemed destined for greatness, as it has the goods of a winning social networking website. This new brand of social media platform is a collaborative venture of the genius guys of Google – Larry Page, Vic Gundotra etc. Among its innovative features are circles, sparks, huddles and for the kill – Hangouts. Hangouts is the video chat platform of Google Plus. It is a tool that initiates a simultaneously virtual conversation and interaction between two or up to ten people, including the initiator. It is about meeting with the people you want to connect and hook up with online. What makes it even better? It’s free! So, what’s the big deal? You see last July 29, 2011, I came across this article from the Times Square Chronicles, and the headline goes: Connect Me to an American Customer Service Representative. The writer made a very interesting remark and I quote, “Imagine what would happen if every US citizen insisted on talking to only US phone reps from [...]
By Jay of Davao In today’s world, the Internet is the most indispensable human technology. It allows you to connect with different people anywhere in the world, at your most convenient time. Wherever you are, communication is made easy through internet. Communication can be done through emails, chat, or even online meeting or conferencing. The Importance of Webinar We often hear the word “webinar” but what does it mean? Webinar, short for web-based seminar, is also known as web conferencing. It allows events to be viewed remotely on different locations. Basically all applications like presentation, lectures, workshops and seminars are done over the internet. It is just like attending a conference room based seminar. The only difference is that participants attend via the computer. The presenter discusses something onscreen through slide shows, videos, audio tutorials while the participants view and listen to the demonstration. The VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol), a real time audio technology on the computer via use of headphones and speakers, allows both the presenter and participants to communicate in a more [...]
